Today we had a computer come in that would power on, but didn’t show anything on the screen.

We tested the computer power supply to make sure it was working. Once we knew the board was getting the correct power we tested to make sure that the hard drive was not dead.

On closer inspection of the board while trying to remove the hard drive, we found a bad capacitor. We replaced the computer motherboard and it powered on.

Tips from this repair – make sure your computer has plenty or air to keep it cool. Capacitors tend to go bad when either the power supply is bad or if the computer is over heating.

Computer are like cars, they need to be checked out at least every six months, bring your computer in for a free checkup.
